21.09 - 23.09.2020

Dear colleagues,

The International Workshop on "Understanding Plant Responses to Climate Changes: Redox based strategies" organized by Luisa M. Sandalio, Francisco J. Cejudo and Frank Van Breusegem on behalf of the Universidad Internacional de Andalucía (UNIA) will take place in Baeza (Spain) from 21st to 23rd September 2020. The workshop is included within the frame of the meetings focused environmental research established by UNIA.

The need of crop productivity improvement remains as one of the most important challenges of our time. Thus, the study of the mechanisms involved in plant acclimation to environmental stresses stands among the most attractive areas of plant research. Plants monitor their environment continuously and adjust their metabolic and signaling systems accordingly, post-translational modifications (PTMs) of proteins being crucial for triggering specific plant responses. The workshop will focus on the role of PTMs in plant response to reactive oxygen, nitrogen and sulfur species (ROS, RNS, RSS). Key questions to be addressed are: How cells discriminate stimuli and trigger specific responses? How do ROS, NO and RSS regulate the cross-talk between different PTMs? How this knowledge can improve crop tolerance to environmental stresses?

The Scientific Program will be organized in four sessions with Lectures by invited speakers and Short Talks selected from the submitted abstracts. The program will allow posters discussions. Two fellowships will be sponsored by SEBBM for inscription costs of PhD students and young post-docs members of SEBBM. The number of participants is limited to 60.

In summary, the International Workshop on "Understanding Plant Responses to Climate Changes: Redox based strategies" will be an excellent opportunity for exchanging ideas with colleagues.

Looking forward to welcoming you in Baeza.
